12 years ago this week, President Obama signed his first bill into law -- the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The law is a nod to fellow Alabamian Lilly Ledbetter -- a humble activist in the fight for equal pay -- and ensures that people are paid equally regardless of race, age, or gender.

The protections created by this law haven’t only made a difference in the lives of millions of women, but it has made American families stronger.

However, we know that full equality is not yet achieved for women or for American workers -- and it is on us to continue Ledbetter’s work to ensure that every person has an opportunity to succeed.

That is why I’m proud to work alongside the Biden/Harris Administration as they now make monumental strides in the fight for economic justice. In his first week, Joe Biden has signed Executive Orders that will:

- Strengthen health and safety regulations for frontline workers during COVID-19
- Increase the minimum wage to $15 for federal workers and contractors
- Open a three-month enrollment period to allow more Americans to sign up for health insurance
- Provide relief to individuals, families, and small businesses impacted by the pandemic

I want to know if you’re with us as Democrats once again fight for this historic progress. Will you sign your name to show support for Joe Biden’s mission to ensure that EVERY American family thrives? → [link removed]

The pandemic has only exacerbated the challenges that working families face in our economy. Too many Americans were already working harder for less pay and struggling to get by to pay for housing, afford their medications, or even put food on the table.

Now, the last thing they can afford is losing part of their paycheck to blatant discrimination. We must continue to do the work to ensure that every person has an opportunity to earn a living wage.

We’re in a moment of momentum right now -- and we want to show that there’s once again a wave of support from American families to even the playing field for everyday workers. If you’re with us, will you sign your name onto my petition? → [link removed]
