Friend --
I can understand the temptation to laugh off the absurdity and outrageousness of the theories being advanced by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene -- it’s hard not to be amused by a Facebook post about a “Jewish space laser.” [1]
Yet at the same time, it would be a huge mistake to ignore the serious threat posed by Greene and the far-right, antisemitic conspiracy theorists to whom she is now proudly giving a voice in the halls of Congress. Just a few weeks ago, we saw a violent attack on our democracy by those who believe the outlandish lies about our election promoted by Trump, Greene and their movement.
Congresswoman Greene is a high-profile promoter of the antisemitic QAnon conspiracy theory, which has been described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a "rebranded Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.”
Clearly, we have to take this seriously. As a conspiracist, racist fringe takes on a steadily more influential role among right-wing lawmakers, we have to draw a line.

Despite Greene’s disgusting attempts to shield herself from criticism by boasting of her traditional 'pro-Israel' credentials, our community knows all too well that dangerous conspiracy theories about Jews controlling society have fuelled antisemitic violence for centuries -- and it’s not just Jewish people the Congresswoman is putting in danger.
In the recent past, Greene has called for the execution of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, harassed victims of the Parkland shooting, posted anti-Muslim videos and has promoted the white nationalist ‘Great Replacement’ conspiracy theory -- a theory which claims wealthy Jews and Muslims are supporting 'open border' immigration policies to undermine 'white culture' and bring down Western civilization from the inside.
It’s the same theory espoused by the gunman who massacred 51 Muslims in Christchurch, by the gunman who killed 11 Jews in Pittsburgh and by the organizers of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville.
Tell congressional leadership: Anyone who supports the conspiracy theories behind the Capitol Hill insurrection, the Christchurch massacre and the Pittsburgh shooting doesn’t belong in Congress.
Together, we’re asking congressional leaders to use their constitutional powers to expel Greene from the House as soon as possible and, until such a vote can be taken, we’re calling on Republican leadership to strip Greene of all her committee assignments.
At the same time, we must be aware that even with Greene gone, our politics remains infected with conspiracy theories and white nationalist dog whistles.
Despite her views being on the public record for years, several right-wing lawmakers not only endorsed her, but directed contributions to her campaign. A concerning number of her colleagues continue to fuel conspiracy theories about the election and welcome support from QAnon.
We must make it our mission to defeat them, and it starts with sending a strong message that there will be accountability for spreading falsehoods as dangerously and recklessly as Representative Greene has.
