Dear supporters – On January 20th, we inaugurated President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris into office! Stand with Parkland looks forward to working with the Biden administration as we improve the safety of America’s schools for all students. We also wanted to say thank you to President Trump and those in his administration who worked with us to improve school safety and create SchoolSafety.gov. This year has gotten off to an interesting start, but we’re hopeful that great things are yet to come. In January, we saw a partnership between SaferWatch, a Stand with Parkland partner, and MotoSolutions. They have joined together to create a mobile panic alert system in compliance with Florida's Alyssa's Law. In fact, the combined solution has already been operational in Broward County thanks to the leadership of Sheriff Greg Tony. You can learn more about the latest technology here!
With new state and federal governments in place, we have hit the ground running in helping to enact more safety protocols. We’ve been working with members of the federal government to get legislation like the Luke and Alex School Safety Act reintroduced, while also working with members of the Florida State Legislature to introduce a bill called the Parents Need To Know Act.
