Chuck Schumer

Friend --

Today is the first day of Black History Month -- a month to celebrate the diversity and history of our country and the contributions of Black Americans for generations.

The past year has been unfathomably difficult for Black communities and families, from the disproportionate impact of COVID to the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

But we’ve seen hope in the darkness, too. We won back the White House because of Black voters. We flipped Georgia twice because of Black voters and the years-long dedication of Black organizers like Stacey Abrams. We elected the first Black senator from Georgia -- Senator Raphael Warnock. And we put the first Black woman in the White House. Now, we’re building the future of our party centered on Black voters and voices with our new Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison.

Their leadership is how we move this country forward and forge a future rooted in racial justice and equity. As honor those who fought so hard throughout our nation’s history, we celebrate the path ahead.

Celebrate Black History Month and the future we can build together by sharing this graphic honoring Vice President Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, and Senator Raphael Warnock right now.

Sincerely,

Chuck Schumer
