You Helped Feed Hungry Families in the Toughest Places

Thanks to the partnership of people like you, Unto® sent enough meals last year to provide 12,671 hungry people with a 30-day supply of meals.

In addition 56,000 people in four U.S. cities hit hard by COVID-19 received food during the height of the pandemic. The meals were personally delivered by our local Cru® partners — meeting immediate physical needs and providing opportunities to share the hope of Jesus at the right time.

In countries where people were already facing food insecurity, their needs have only been exacerbated due to COVID-19 restrictions, economic collapse, severe drought, and more. The generosity of faithful partners helped serve people in places like Zimbabwe, where our team hosts a food and nutrition program. Currently the program regularly serves more than 128 elderly people, orphaned or at-risk children, and impoverished families. The gift of meals (#) could not be more important — meeting the nutritional needs of people who might otherwise struggle to survive.

Jona is the father of a young girl in the feeding program. His wife recently died of COVID-19. He is now the sole caregiver for his one-year-old daughter, and he often takes her along with him as he does odd jobs to make money to buy food.

Jona told our team:

“The food which I gave my child was not nutritious enough, and she became malnourished. I was happy when my child was enrolled in the food assistance program as she is going to start eating enough nutrients for her body requirements. I pray that this program will get enough support to keep on feeding her and also to grow as there are many other children like her.” 

The food program has not only helped meet people’s nutritional needs but has also helped keep COIVD-19 safety measures in place. Families are no longer forced to defy lockdowns and health guidelines to travel and obtain food for their children. In addition to the meals, those who attend the program receive a mask and are provided with a place to wash their hands with antibacterial soap. At every meal distribution families experience the kindness of Jesus and hear about His eternal hope.

Because of the generosity of people like you, the nutritional needs of families in Zimbabwe and many other places were met while also reducing the spread of COVID-19. You helped save lives and share hope in the toughest places on earth.
