Dear Friends,
NDN is excited to announce that it is launching a new weekly video discussion series focusing on US politics. The new series, called “NDN Talks,” will take place on Tuesdays at 1pm ET and feature political thought leaders talking about everything from electoral tactics to the big issue challenges facing the country. The series will be hosted by Simon Rosenberg, and will be a live one on one interview format lasting 30-40 minutes conducted via the popular video service, Zoom. The audience will be able to ask questions too, and the shows will be recorded for future viewing.
Our inaugural episode will be tomorrow, February 2nd at 1pm ET – we will be talking with author and television commentator Ruth Ben-Ghiat about her new book, Strongmen. Register here, and invite others – all are welcome!
In addition to our talk with Dr. Ben-Ghiat tomorrow, we have two other great shows already on the books – a talk with Glenn Kirschner about revisiting the idea of a “High Crime,” and a deep dive the all-important Hispanic vote with noted pollster and long-time NDN collobarator, Fernand Amandi. Registration information for both events is here, and below.
NDN Talks Working Schedule
Tuesday, Feb 2nd, 1pm ET – NDN Talks Strongmen With Ruth Ben-Ghiat – NDN is excited to host a discussion with noted author, historian and television commentator Ruth Ben-Ghiat for a discussion about her new book, “Strongmen,” and America’s current struggle with authoritarianism. You can register for the event here, and learn more and order her acclaimed new book here.
A quick hit on Strongmen from her site – “Ruth Ben-Ghiat is the expert on the "strongman" playbook employed by authoritarian demagogues from Mussolini to Putin—enabling her to predict with uncanny accuracy the recent experience in America. In Strongmen, she lays bare the blueprint these leaders have followed over the past 100 years, and empowers us to recognize, resist, and prevent their disastrous rule in the future.” We at NDN have learned much from Professor Ben-Ghiat in recent months, and are excited to bring her to you.
Tuesday, February 16th, 1pm ET - NDN Talks High Crimes, Accountability With Glenn Kirschner - Joining us will be one of our favorite television commentators, lawyer, warrior for justice, Glenn Kirschner. Register here.
Tuesday, March 2nd, 1pm ET - NDN Talks The Hispanic Vote with Fernand Amandi - NDN is excited to be bringing back an old friend to talk about what happened with the Hispanic vote in 2020, and what might we expect in the years to come. Register here.
Our weekly Friday presentation of With Democrats Things Get Better will also continue for the next month or so, when it will transition to a monthly, always updated presentation.
Thanks for your interest, and hope you will be joining us for a NDN Talks episode in the coming weeks!
Best, Simon, Georgia
