This headline really speaks for itself. The extreme right wing failed in its January 6 coup attempt. But they're still using plenty of other anti-democratic means to hang on to power they didn't earn.

Gerrymandering is a huge part of the Republican playbook. It's affecting our politics today: Mother Jones reports that "more than 50 million Americans live in states ... where Republicans control the legislature despite getting fewer votes" -- which means right-wing politicians can pass their favored legislation over the objections of the people.

And gerrymandering has the potential to derail our national politics for the next 10 years, unless we stop it.

Our democracy was tested in unprecedented ways during the Trump administration, and it was tested again on January 6. But fundamentally, the GOP has been pushing democracy to the limits for a long time by using gerrymandering and voter suppression to get their way. As Mother Jones reports, "This isn't about which party wins elections, but whether democracy itself survives."
