I am proud to have been at the forefront of protecting the rule of law and holding President Trump accountable from the beginning. Every investigation into the President’s actions have led us to this point – and the House Democratic leadership has agreed that it is time to move forward with a formal impeachment inquiry.

Just last week, Corey Lewandowski, Mr. Trump’s former campaign manager, confirmed: 

1. President Trump expressed a desire for Attorney General Sessions to ignore his recusal and obstruct Mueller’s investigation
2. That he didn’t call into question Robert Mueller’s findings (which include obstruction of justice: the crime that was the basis of President Nixon’s impeachment hearing.)
3. That he lied to the American people about Trump’s efforts to obstruct the Mueller investigation.

We are seeing the pattern of obstruction laid out in the Mueller report play out in real-time.

We have a responsibility to hold President Trump accountable to the rule of law because, here in America, no person is above it.
