This week, despite 66 speakers showing up to speak against HB1 and only 2 in support. Despite 4,372 emails and calls against HB1 and only 6 in support. Despite overwhelming pushback against what is simply a bad, unconstitutional, bill, my Republican-led committee jammed through a party-line vote 11-6 to pass the bill.
It's obvious already, we need to WIN in 2022. We need to pull a Georgia and work harder and smarter, we need to dig deep and invest in our future if we're going to get the meaningful change our state needs.
In 2020, ours was the closest win of any Democrat in the state. Our win kept us out of a super-minority and it's the only reason we have any voice at all in Tallahassee. We must hold the line here as we fight to flip our state blue.
Today, I'm kicking off that campaign and I'm asking for your help. We need to make one big push and make it clear from the beginning that this seat is simply out of reach and the party of the radical far-right is too out of touch for this district.
As a cautionary tale, we lost five incumbents in 2020 because we thought their seats were "safe." Well, we won by 1%, this seat IS NOT safe by any measure.
Which is why I NEED you now. Please give what you can, early investments are critical and I appreciate your support more than you know!
Republicans in 2020 outspent us across the state 2:1 or more and that's not a winning strategy. This time, let's turn the tables and WIN.
