Hi friend,
Our farmworkers have carried some of the heaviest of our nation's burdens during this pandemic -- but instead of caring for them, the Trump administration repaid their contributions to our country with punishment.
Farmworkers labored to put food on our tables through record-high summer temperatures. They fought to survive as COVID-19 rampaged through their communities. And they faced numerous ICE raids under the Trump administration: four years of policies that, United Farm Workers Foundation Executive Director Diana Tellefson Torres told the Desert Sun, resulted in the "terrorization of farmworker communities in rural areas."
President Joe Biden just unveiled his first piece of immigration legislation. The bill, titled the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, would qualify an estimated 1 million undocumented farmworkers to immediately apply for green cards after passing background checks.
But the GOP has been fighting to destroy immigrants' American dreams since long before Trump was elected, and they'll keep trying to prevent us from building a more diverse nation throughout Biden's presidency.
That's why we're asking supporters like you:
Should Congress pass Biden's U.S. Citizenship Act?
Thank you for your commitment to creating a more compassionate country.
