House threatens to subpoena information from Interior

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raul Grijalva at yesterday's hearing.

Recently confirmed Interior Solicitor Daniel Jorjani testified in front of the House Natural Resources Committee yesterday to answer questions about the department's failure to respond to Congressional requests for information. Of the 24 separate requests, Interior has only provided information pertaining to three.

“Interior’s refusal to cooperate means this committee cannot do the oversight envisioned in our Constitution. That has not stopped the Trump administration from delaying, obstructing and sometimes just ignoring our efforts to conduct oversight," Committee Chairman Raul Grijalva said. Grijalva also threatened to subpoena information if Jorjani continues to not comply.

Among the issued discussed during the hearing was the Bureau of Land Management headquarters relocation, an effort being lead by William Perry Pendley, who recently released a 17-page recusal list. A group of 12 Senators is now asking Pendley be removed from his position.

If you have been misapplying the Trump ethics pledge as it pertains to Mr. Pendley, I wonder if you have been misapplying it against Mr. Bernhardt."
