Can you believe this photo?! Just three weeks ago, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said that Donald Trump was responsible for the Capitol Building insurrection, and this week he's in a gold-trimmed room at Mar-a-Lago, asking for Trump's help in rallying his base.(1) Trump's impeachment trial begins in two weeks, but McCarthy thinks there's no political price to be paid for allying himself with the traitorous former president. We're going to prove him wrong. Will you donate to help hold the Seditious Seven accountable? McCarthy has already walked back his statement accusing Trump of riling up the crowd that stormed the Capitol Building, killing seven people. He is now saying, "I don't believe he provoked it, if you listen to what he said at the rally."(2) Apparently, McCarthy doesn't believe Trump's urge for the insurrectionists to "fight like hell" contributed to the violence -- but most people do.(3,4) And McCarthy is to be blamed as well. He repeated Trump's lies about voter fraud and election theft, giving the rioters all the reason they needed to threaten the lives of Congress.(5) McCarthy and the six other California members of Congress who spread these lies -- Devin Nunes, Ken Calvert, Doug LaMalfa, Jay Obernolte, Mike Garcia, and Darrell Issa -- shouldn't be allowed to serve any longer. But they're counting on us going along with their efforts to sweep it all under the rug. And now McCarthy is looking to leverage Trump's continued popularity with his base to undermine Congress even further. If we don't act now, Trump will be back in the spotlight before we know it. Courage California has joined with a coalition of California organizations to remind the public and Congress that the Seditious Seven tried to subvert our democracy with their actions. We've already held a media event calling them out, and now we're ramping up the campaign. Our system relies on justice and representatives who uphold their oaths of office, and the Seditious Seven must go. Will you donate to help demand that the Seditious Seven be expelled from Congress?
