As white supremacists led a failed coup, extremists like Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley disseminated lies about the election on television, and GOP leaders at every level participated in the insurrection both physically and through spreading misinformation.

Emerge’s mission to recruit, train, and elect more women isn’t just about fighting for a more representative government — it’s about stopping leaders who embrace white supremacy. It's these same leaders who have been emboldened by four years of Trump. It's these same leaders who are on a path to gain even more power.

We need to recruit even more candidates and give them the tools they need to unseat these white supremacist elected officials. Participating in a coup fueled by hate and bigotry should disqualify each of them from serving in office.
