We're in the midst of a plastic pollution crisis. Scientists are constantly finding broken down plastic where it's not supposed to be -- from the bottom of the Mariana Trench to the highest peaks of the Pyrenees Mountains.[2] A recent study even found that each of us is likely ingesting a credit card's worth of plastic particles every single week.[3]

The plastic items we use for just a few minutes are threatening our health and polluting our future for hundreds of years.

Together with our national network, we're running campaigns to reduce single-use plastic waste in states across the country, including:

* Banning plastic foam cups and containers, and single-use plastic bags.
* Ensuring that plastic straws and utensils are offered on request only.
* Requiring all packaging to be recyclable.
* And more.

But we face tough, well-funded opposition. We need to sweep past the plastic defenders to protect our health and our future. We need to do more research, more organizing and more advocacy. To do any of our work, we need your help.
