John,

Less than a year since the COVID-19 pandemic began, AstraZeneca,
Pfizer/BioNTech, and Moderna have created safe and effective vaccines
against the virus, and some nations have started vaccinating their
citizens.

This is great news and a major scientific achievement. But, over the last
week, both AstraZeneca and Pfizer/ BioNTech have reported delays in
vaccine supply because of production problems - highlighting [ [link removed] ]the
massive constraint the world is facing in getting vaccines to everyone,
everywhere.

In fact, millions of people in low-income countries may have to wait until
at least 2022 for the jab. The WHO has suggested that stopping COVID-19
will require at least 70% of the global population to have immunity.

actions are bringing us closer to, or further from, global access to
COVID-19 vaccines. Unfortunately, our Test is showing three trends that
could prolong the pandemic by years:

* With increasing vaccine deliveries in rich countries, there is a risk
of overreliance on “trickle down” donations of unrequired supplies to
expand global access.
* The increase in competition between rich countries is monopolizing the
global supply, driving up prices for all countries.
* Limited vaccine supply remains the biggest barrier to global access.

being left behind and how to increase vaccine supplies:
