John, this isn’t the email we were hoping to send today, but it’s the one we have to.
At the beginning of each month, we set specific fundraising goals to reach in order to recruit candidates, pay our staff, run digital ads, organize volunteers, and more. This month, we aimed to raise $230,000. But after looking over the numbers these last few days, it’s become clear that we’re not going to reach that $230,000 number.
We want to keep you fully informed of what’s going on so today we’re sharing that we’re officially lowering our January fundraising goal to $205,000.
Look, we’re not going to send you any terrifying, DCCC-style “the sky is falling” emails. There is no reason to kiss all hope goodbye. And we don’t have any generous donors to QUADRUPLE MATCH your donation.
Our movement is rooted in working-class people contributing what they can afford because they believe in electing transformative leaders like Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman. We don’t take a dime from corporate PACs and we don’t have any billionaire donors to fall back on.
Here’s a screenshot of our ActBlue numbers for the entire month so far. As you can see, we’re completely grassroots-driven:
Thank you for your solidarity,
Team JD
