Did you catch what the Oregon GOP did this month?

The Oregon GOP passed a resolution filled with lies and conspiracy theories, calling the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol a “false flag” operation, likening it to the Reichstag Fire, and condemning the members of their own party who voted to hold Trump accountable for incitement of insurrection.

In the era of Trump, the Oregon GOP has seemingly given up on any effort to appeal to a majority of Oregonians. Oregon Republican legislators have repeatedly walked out of the legislature, blocking progress on issues that are important to everyday Oregonians. Cliff Bentz, Oregon's only Republican Congressman, voted to object to the certification of Pennsylvania’s Electoral College votes, which if passed would have thrown out the legally cast ballots of nearly 7 million Americans. And they just lost an election for the only statewide office that was held by a Republican.

Now their party leadership is increasingly aligning themselves with far-right conspiracy theories.

This resolution isn't something to be waved away – and coming from the official state Republican Party, it's reckless and downright dangerous.

We have our work cut out for us to support the Biden/Harris administration and help Oregon and America recover from the pandemic stronger than before. But it's imperative that we do everything we can to defend our hard-fought progress from Republicans who eagerly cater to the worst impulses of conspiracy theorists.
