Our campaign is facing our first fundraising deadline of the year tomorrow, so I hope you’ll give me a moment to explain why your contribution matters right now.

In just the first week and a half since Donald Trump’s presidency ended and a Democratic majority took back the Senate, we’ve already made strong progress on some of the pressing issues facing our country today.

President Biden has rapidly issued executive actions to re-enter the Paris Climate Agreement; end the xenophobic Muslim travel ban, the ban on transgender military service, and various cruel immigration policies; stop the Justice Department’s renewal of contracts with private prisons; revoke the Keystone XL pipeline permit; issue a federal mask mandate; invoke the Defense Production Act to rapidly produce more PPE and other medical supplies to fight the virus; and extend the national eviction freeze and student loan pause.

That’s a lot of progress for just ten days!

While the Biden administration makes these great strides, I’m working with my Democratic colleagues in the Senate to pass additional COVID-19 relief, rebuild our democracy with stronger voting rights and get big money out of politics through the For the People Act, finally raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, and hold former President Trump accountable through the upcoming Senate impeachment trial.

I’ve certainly got my hands full here in Washington, and that’s why your donation matters so much: it enables me to stay focused on addressing these crises and making real change. The more folks pitch in to emails like this one, the less I have to worry about fundraising and can focus on the job at hand: building our country back better.
