I’ve always admired Jumaane’s ability to plainly call out the wrongs that many ignore or sweep under the rug.

Long before this job, and even before he was elected to represent Central Brooklyn on the City Council, Jumaane was a relentless advocate for justice. He was the kind of person you wanted to fight alongside -- not against. Jumaane saw the inequities in our society and resolved to do something about them.
