Hi friend,
In 2020, Republicans tried to take down Kamala Harris by spewing racist slurs.
They failed. Now, she's the first Black and Asian Vice President of the U.S. -- an inspiring figure for many across this country whose voices and hopes were suppressed by the Trump administration.
During the AAPI Inaugural Ball, actor Kumail Nanjiani reflected on the Trump era and said that “‘the last few years, I've seen my mom become disillusioned with America,” according to NBC News. “‘She says things like ‘They don't want us here, where are we going to go?'”
“‘I'll tell you, this election has restored my mom's faith in America. She feels proud to call America home again.'”
Together, we organized. We voted. We mobilized our communities. We took back the Senate and reclaimed the White House for everyday Americans.
And we helped make America feel like home again for so many people.
President Biden and Vice President Harris just took office, yet the GOP is already peddling more xenophobic rhetoric. The former Acting Homeland Security Secretary that Trump picked, Chad Wolf, recently argued that Biden repealing Trump's inhumane Muslim ban is "going to make the American people less safe," and we're sure to see the GOP ramp up their racist rhetoric as Harris and our historically diverse Congress take action on important issues of civil rights and social justice.
Together, we can show the GOP that not only is their rhetoric xenophobic and hateful, but also that it isn't going stop Democrats from pursuing policies that truly align with a vision of creating justice for all. Unfortunately, we're falling behind in our fundraising goals, and if we don't raise $1,342 by the end of tonight, we're not going to be able to keep up with Republicans' powerful donor network.
