People For Holds Member Telebriefing to “Unpack the Insurrection”
Donald Trump’s incitement of insurrection on Jan. 6 was among the most treacherous and anti-democratic actions of any U.S. president in history. In its aftermath, People For has pressed for swift and decisive legal accountability, which we believe is the first step toward repairing our fractured democracy. In addition to calling for Trump to be convicted and disqualified from holding office, we also demand accountability for every front-line rioter who acted on Trump’s incitement, his Republican enablers in Congress, and members of law enforcement who leant support to the violent mob.

To Repair Our Country After Violent Insurrection, We Must Fight White Supremacy
Just weeks ago, many of us celebrated the new year – and the end of an especially devastating one – with a renewed sense of optimism. That celebration came to a screeching halt on January 6 when a violent, insurrectionist mob stormed the U.S. Capitol.
We cannot, as social justice activists and concerned citizens of this country, continue our pursuit of a more just and equitable democracy without understanding how the forces of white supremacy came to bear that day.

On 48th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Let’s Recommit to Protecting – and Expanding – Abortion Rights
Forty-eight years ago, the Supreme Court issued its decision in the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade.
That day, the Supreme Court majority, which included five Republican-appointed justices, ruled that a state law that outlawed abortions was unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment’s protection of the right to privacy. The decision marked a critical milestone for legalizing abortion as a constitutional human right and drastically reduced the number of dangerous, illegal abortions, which in 1965 accounted for 17 percent of all pregnancy- and childbirth-related deaths. But it also sparked a fervent anti-choice movement and turned the religious right into a major player in our government, our policies and our politics.

Right Wing Watch: ‘We Were Played’: QAnon’s Inauguration Day Meltdown
After spending years awaiting “The Storm” - the moment when President Donald Trump would supposedly eliminate the so-called “deep state” and expose an elite child-sex trafficking cabal - adherents of the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory were forced to reckon with the fact that their movement was little more than delusional fantasy.
Despite attempts to keep the hope alive, QAnon followers watched in dismay as Trump left Washington, D.C., for Florida Wednesday morning while Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. With no military coup, no dramatic scenes of revolution, and no mass executions or retaliatory violence as prophesied, QAnon adherents began to wonder if they had been deceived.
