Even with preparations well underway for the impeachment trial in the Senate, far-right senators are already signaling they are willing to absolve Trump of responsibility for inciting the deadly insurrection on January 6.
We must keep up the pressure and let ANY senator who votes against conviction know that we will hold them accountable!
Help us reach our goal of 40,000 signatures by Monday when we will be reporting our numbers!
Rather than be willing to face the facts in the case, many on the right would rather make false assertions that the entire trial is unconstitutional -- ignoring a precedent set nearly 150 years ago.
Many legal scholars and right-leaning think tanks agree: convicting Trump, even though he is no longer in office, is constitutional and perfectly within the purview of the Senate.
With the possible exception of criminal prosecution, nothing other than conviction and disqualification by the Senate will truly send the message to future presidents that they cannot get away with rallying a seditious mob to attempt a coup.
We must continue calling for swift and decisive justice with the conviction of Trump, and then continue refocusing our efforts to advance a progressive agenda that can move our nation forward.
