I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the anniversary of the historic Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act that was ratified in 2009. Former President Barack Obama signed the act into law, his first law, which signified that men and women should be paid the same for the same work.
We’ve made a lot of progress in the 12 years since this legislation was passed, but there’s still a ways to go. White men and women are paid roughly the same amount -- but Black and Latinx women still fall far behind in their earnings. This progress isn’t enough for millions of Americans whose earnings aren’t equal to their white peers.
President Biden is in favor of raising the minimum wage for all Americans, and I agree. Raising the minimum wage would give a much needed boost to millions of Americans, plus would improve the economy. This is where I need your help: Tell Congress it’s time to raise the minimum wage. We need 10,000 signatures by Saturday at midnight. Can you add your name? [[link removed]]

I need your help: Lawmakers can’t turn a blind eye to thousands of people signaling their support for a higher minimum wage. We need your name by tomorrow at midnight. Join thousands of other Nevadans who support raising the minimum wage. [[link removed]]
The Lilly Ledbetter Act improved the lives of millions of women, and by raising the minimum wage, we could help millions more Americans.
