Today, I am very proud to announce that I have filed House Bill  6505 "Relief of Robert Earl DuBoise."

Today, I am very proud to announce that I have filed House Bill  6505 "Relief of Robert Earl DuBoise."

Robert is a Tampa man wrongfully incarcerated for 37 years, including three years on death row, for a crime DNA evidence has completely exonerated him of. Watch Mr. DuBoise' story here:

I want to thank the Innocence Project for never giving up on Robert, any many like him, and fighting and securing his freedom. Also, a special thanks to our own, soon-to-be Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who stepped-up to help Mr. DuBoise get on his feet when he was finally released this September.

Still, short of opening the cell door, our state has done nothing to right this incalculable wrong. This bill would award compensation of $1.85 million to Mr. Dubois, representing $50,000 per year for each year stolen from Mr. DuBoise (as is the formula allowed in existing statute).

I want to thank my Senate sponsor Tina Polsky for joining me in our fight for Mr. DuBoise. Together, we will make this right.
