I'll get right to the point, friend - there are 34 Senate seats up in 2022, including 14 Democratic incumbents we need to protect. Our 50-50 majority leaves NO room for error.

So as the new chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) tasked with the responsibility of defending and expanding our majority, here's the only number I want you to focus on right now: one.

It only takes one Republican gain - just one Democratic campaign coming up short - and the razor-thin majority we worked so hard for together is gone.

So let me first acknowledge this: You delivered this majority. YOU got us to where we are today. After some hard, long years of Mitch McConnell in control, we're finally in a position to do some good.

But here's the ground-game reality: We can't let up for a second.

Our majority is as thin as they come, friend, and if we want to ensure we can deliver on the progress our country needs - for years and years to come - then we've got no time to waste in protecting and expanding our majority.

Having just won a battleground race myself, I know the pathway to victory is full of grassroots energy, pure and simple. So as DSCC chair, I'll be coming to you, this grassroots team, with regular State of the Map updates on the upcoming cycle. I'll be sure to cue you in to where the biggest battleground races are, our plan for winning them and what resources will make the biggest difference in particular moments.
