Greetings! Just over 10 years ago my son Brian Mast was blown up by terrorists in Afghanistan. I’m deeply proud of my son, and I love him very much. But we’ve always had a tough love kind of relationship, so that’s not something I’ve said nearly enough. That’s why when Brian’s sister told me Brian had been blown up in Afghanistan, my heart sank. I was worried I’d never be able to tell him those three words ever again. Thankfully, though he lost two legs and a finger, he survived. The first words out of my mouth when I saw him in the hospital: I love you. Then our conversation immediately turned back to tough love. I told him: you can’t let your greatest service to our nation be behind you and you can’t let your kids see you sitting on your butt. Brian took this lesson to heart, like I always knew he would. He learned to walk again, he graduated from Harvard and he won an election to become a Republican representative for the 18th Congressional District of Florida. Now, 10 years after he was blown up on the battlefield overseas, CNN’s Jake Tapper is questioning Brian’s commitment to Democracy. I couldn’t believe it - he lost two legs fighting overseas for us to be able to speak freely, not to have any American be silenced or have their free speech taken away. What I wasn’t surprised by, though, was Brian’s response: despite the absurd attack, he defended Jake Tapper’s right to say whatever he wanted. That free speech is exactly why Brian has fought so hard his whole life to defend our country. Like I said, I’m a proud father! But I talked to Brian this morning, and he told me that this whole thing has really put a strain on his campaign’s finances. Jake Tapper has a huge audience, and it’s expensive to respond! So, with just a few days left before the campaign’s first major fundraising deadline of the year, they’re behind the eight ball. That’s why I’m emailing you. Brian needs our help. For a dad who is immensely proud of his son, can you make a donation of $20 or more to help him respond to Jake Tapper ASAP? DONATE $100 DONATE $50 DONATE $20 DONATE ANOTHER AMOUNT I appreciate your support for my son, and I know Brian deeply appreciates it also. Together, we will continue to defend this amazing country we call home!
