Generous Donation Brings Technology to Classrooms

A recent donation gave us the funds to purchase state of the art, interactive whiteboards for our Head Start classrooms. This hands-on technology increases the resources available to our teachers and is an early introduction to STEM education for our 3-5 year old students. Most importantly, there is a direct association between the use of whiteboards in classroom learning and increases in student performance and achievement.

The educational skills built now will serve as the foundation from which any student can build future success. We are very grateful for the supportive community that helps ensure our youngest learners have the tools to build a brighter future.

You're Invited to the NVFS 2021 Road to Independence Virtual Gala!

This special event makes it possible for NVFS to serve nearly 30,000 of our community members who experience poverty year-round — community members that will need our support more than ever as we endure the short-term impacts and plan for long-term recovery of this crisis. In this new, virtual iteration of our largest event, we will celebrate the achievements and possibilities of our work in the community through our energetic and engaging program.

Together, we can meet and overcome any challenge for our community, and strengthen families to create a stronger, more vibrant Northern Virginia.

Save the Date: Thursday, May 13th at 5:30pm

Sponsorship opportunities are available: Contact [email protected], or visit our website

Congratulations to Our Newest Training Future Graduates!

Training Futures offers an innovative curriculum in a simulated office environment with the goal of helping under, and unemployed adults secure professional careers, and to meet the needs of local employers who seek qualified, entry level workers.

Our most recent graduates have risen above the the unprecedented events in the world right now to dedicate themselves to their virtual training and take the next step in their career path. We are excited to continue to provide guidance, support, and watch them as they use the tools and confidence they've honed in the program even as we welcome the newest class of trainees into their orientation.

Step Up to Support SERVE!

This time of year plans are normally under way for our Strikes for Stronger Families Bowl-a-thon, benefitting NVFS’ SERVE campus. But if 2020 taught us anything, it’s to expect big changes, even if it’s temporary. So, to help keep everyone safe and healthy, we’re transforming this year’s event into the virtual Strides for Stronger Families contest. We invite all teams and individuals to participate in a walk/run/cycle-a-thon, led at your own pace, from Friday, March 19th to Friday, March 26th.

Ways You Can Help: Sponsor; Register as a team/individual; Donate. Contact [email protected] for more info.

While the event looks a bit different this year, the purpose is still the same – to build a stronger Greater Prince William Community!
