After an unprecedented election year and a busy transition period, it’s that time again – Jahana’s next re-election campaign is underway!

Connecticut’s Fifth District was and remains today a purple “toss-up” district. Because the district is split 50/50 between Democrats and Republicans, the GOP always has their eyes on us as a prime target and one of their best efforts to flip the House red in 2022.

We already know that we are going to have to combat millions of dollars in super PAC money ahead of the next election. A Greenwich billionaire launched a super PAC against Jahana late in the 2020 season. They made a large last-minute investment on behalf of Jahana’s opponent, doubling down on the singular message of fear, division and hate. We fully expect them to continue early in the 2022 cycle, sticking with their divisive messaging.

We have to be ready to make sure our positive, unifying message is heard above the noise. With Democrats in control of the House, Senate, and Executive Branch, Republicans will go all out to gain any seats they can in 2022 – and CT-05 is ground-zero for their strategy. In fact, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is already coordinating with former President Trump on a national strategy to take back the House.

The path to maintaining a Democratic majority in the House runs straight through toss-up districts like Connecticut’s 5th. If we don’t win here, our chances of keeping the House are drastically reduced.
