First rescue operation of the year frees 41
In our first rescue operation of 2021, IJM supported local authorities to free 41 people from bondage at a railway construction site in Odisha state. This included 12 young children and one baby born on site.

The Dominican Republic passes historic law against child marriage
People in the DR under 18 will no longer be able to marry, even with parental consent and permission from a judge. “Through this law, a new stage begins in the country,” said IJM’s Sonia Hernandez. “Our girls and adolescents will be protected … and cannot be forced into marriage in their childhood or adolescence.”
