Dear Friend,
Monday, September 30, is a big day for IWF and IWV.
One year ago, we led the response to the spurious attacks on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, focusing on fairness and due process.
But recent events, including Court-packing proposals, renewed attacks on Justice Kavanaugh, and other threats to judicial independence—as well as increasing attacks on the Electoral College and our constitutional structure—require that we make a more sustained effort in the legal arena.
In the last few months, we have published numerous articles and participated in several Facebook Live discussions about the confirmation process and the proper role of the courts. We have developed educational materials on the U.S. Supreme Court and the role of the judiciary, and we have launched state educational campaigns to protect the Electoral College.
We have also stepped up our legal advocacy, filing two amicus briefs with the United States Supreme Court—one in favor of donor privacy and the other in favor of preserving single-sex sports. And, recently, we filed a brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, supporting freedom of speech at the University of Texas.
