Book your vaccination its our best defence against Covid-19
**A message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:**
Cllr David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council
Covid-19 is taking a terrible toll on our lives. We have seen this with the 500 deaths in our city and 100,000 deaths in the wider country. We have to protect ourselves and each other from this terrible virus. The only way to do this is to be vaccinated. Anyone over 70 can now book an appointment at vaccination centres across the city. I would urge everyone to come forward in this age group. I am asking everyone to protect themselves and their families by booking their vaccination. If you know someone who may be eligible, please help them to book their vaccination even more so if their first language is not English. Lets do all we can to keep Nottingham Safe. You can book online [link removed] [ [link removed] ] or by calling 0115 883 4640.
Our councillors in particular have been calling for people to come forward for vaccinations. Cllr Eunice Campbell-Clarke, Portfolio Holder for Health in the city, has spoken passionately about the loss of her younger brother from this awful virus. She also speaks directly to people from black and minority ethnic background and encourages us all to book a vaccination when our time comes. You can watch her account of Covid-19 on our council social media channels: Twitter [ [link removed] ] and Facebook [ [link removed] ].

Djanogly Community Leisure Centre
We know that one in three people who have the virus have no symptoms and could be inadvertently spreading it to their family. This is why we have set up a special testing centre at Djanogly Community Leisure Centre so people in the city can access a free and rapid test. By getting a regular test we can better protect our families and our work colleagues. If you live or work in the city, you can visit the Asymptomatic Testing Centre: Monday Friday from 9.30am to 6.30pm and Saturday from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Please note that the service is closed on Sundays. There is no need to book just drop in for a free test. Find out more here: [link removed] [ [link removed] ]
