Friend,

The federal minimum hourly wage is just $7.25—and has not increased since 2009.

The Raise the Wage Act of 2021, introduced in the U.S. House and Senate this week, would gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025.

EPI research shows that this would lift the pay of nearly 32 million workers across the country—that’s 21% of the U.S. workforce!

Take a look at the new interactive map ([link removed]) below, organized by congressional district, to see what percentage of wage earners would receive a pay increase in your community.

The increases would provide an additional $107 billion in wages for the country’s lowest-paid workers, with the average affected worker who works year-round receiving an extra $3,300 a year.

Right now, there’s major momentum in the fight for a $15 federal minimum wage. And EPI is providing the movement with the data and research necessary to make the case to members of Congress and to state and local elected officials across the country.

Donate to EPI today to power our research that’s a key tool in fighting for a $15 minimum wage and to improve the rights and wages of all working people. ([link removed])
