We were all deeply disturbed to learn that the QAnon conspiracy theories embraced by the insurrectionists at the Capitol have moved beyond the fringe. QAnon poses a serious threat to our country's safety, which is why Stephanie has taken action and proposed legislation to prohibit QAnon adherents from receiving federal security clearances.

Unfortunately, not everyone thinks we should protect national security. In a disgraceful segment earlier this week, Tucker Carlson attacked Stephanie's bill while defending QAnon believers' right to know national secrets. He incited fear by accusing Stephanie of trying to silence her critics and insinuated that this bill was simply a power grab by Democrats.

This bill is not about politics. It's about Americans who care about combating violent extremism. QAnon believers and government conspiracy theorists should not be trusted with our nation's secrets. Unfortunately, multiple state and local Republican party chapters, including Representative Anthony Sabatini here in Florida, have also signalled sympathy for QAnon.

Multiple members of Congress and dozens of state lawmakers have accepted QAnon. We know attacks on Stephanie and her bill will only increase from here. We cannot sit back and wait for the GOP to hold their own leaders and supporters accountable. We must block believers in ideologies linked to white supremacy and domestic terrorism from gaining access to our country's secrets.
