John, did you see this news?
Reuters: “NYC pension funds vote to divest $4 billion from fossil fuels”
This is a great victory, but we have a long way to go. Our next Comptroller must continue down the path set by Scott Stringer and climate activists -- we can't afford a corporate-backed candidate who will take us backward.
Brad has pledged to complete fossil fuel divestment on schedule and is the only candidate with a comprehensive climate plan, using every tool as steward of NYC’s finances to grow green jobs, clean our air and water, and protect our city from climate disaster.
Divestment is just the start. As Comptroller, Brad will audit every city agency for sustainability, bring rooftop solar to scale, and leverage the full power of his office to finance the transition to a green economy.
And we’re not the only ones ready for Brad’s bold, progressive climate agenda.
Sunrise Movement NYC said Brad’s plan “sets a high bar” and “all candidates, from Mayor to Council, should follow Lander’s example.”
And climate action pioneer Bill McKibben said “The Comptroller of New York City can play a hugely important role” in “cutting off the flow of capital propping up the fossil fuel industry’s bad investments.”
But to make the transformative change our communities need, we can’t have a Comptroller who is beholden to Wall Street and corporate interests that profit from fossil fuels. We’re 100% grassroots-funded and 100% accountable to the people of NYC!
Thank you so much for your support,
