Earlier this month, Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD) introduced a new bill in the US House of Representatives that would allow unconstitutional federal regulation of elections and limit First Amendment rights. The bill is currently in committee, but could see action on the floor as early as next week.
H.R. 1, which is deceptively titled the “For the People Act,” is an incredibly harmful bill that would allow voter fraud on a never-before seen scale. Here are just a few of the damaging things this bill does:
- Allows individuals to vote without showing ID
- Requires each state provide Online Voter Registration
- Requires mandatory early, vote-by-mail options
- Stops states from cleaning voter roles of non-residents
- Bans Poll Challengers (except government workers)
- Requires automatic registration of all "eligible" persons over age 16
- Allows murders, rapists, and other convicted criminals to vote
- Allows Congress to Control Redistricting
- Forms a commission to silence anyone who questions election integrity
- Limits public debate on issues like abortion and religious liberty
