The virtual New Year’s Reception of the European Green Party took place on Wednesday, 27 January 2021. It was broadcasted from Warsaw and Brussels and watched by green family members from all over Europe.

This reception was dedicated to culture. We reflected on the impact the Covid-19 crisis had on the cultural sector and on ways to support it and enjoyed the performances of two Polish artists, whose participation was made possible by donors to EGP’s Green Family fund.

2021 New Year's Reception as a gift of culture

This New Year's reception reminded us that artists, performers and cultural centers were the first to count losses. They were stripped off their income and will be the last to open their doors. That's why, in the words of Thomas Waitz: "We need artists... We owe it to the artists to finally introduce proper social security and a minimum pay."

Ban Biometric Mass Surveillance

The Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament is calling on the European Commission to acknowledge the adverse effect of biometric surveillance methods on our fundamental rights, and to impose a ban of biometric mass surveillance technologies in the EU.
