GGR – which blocked organizations that support safe abortion care (like ours) from accessing US funding – had a calamitous impact on healthcare around the world. Not just on access to safe abortion, but also HIV and cancer treatment, maternal care and much more.

It was re-implemented and expanded in 2017, and we simply cannot allow it to ever happen again. To that end, IPPF urges the Biden-Harris administration to now take the necessary steps to permanently repeal GGR to prevent future administrations weaponizing the policy, and causing further unimaginable harm.

We look on with hope and welcome the opportunity to work closely with the United States to protect and advance sexual and reproductive healthcare for all.

In solidarity,

The IPPF Team
