Dear Friend,

Here's the bad news: Multiple proposals to impose a strict photo ID requirement for voting are back.

Here's the good news: I'm actively trying to stop them.

Even though Minnesotans soundly defeated a photo ID constitutional amendment at the ballot box just a few years ago, supporters are trying again. This time, some of them are leveraging disinformation about the 2020 election, suggesting that voter fraud is somehow rampant and systemic. (It's not - and a photo ID requirement wouldn't even address or prevent the miniscule level of misconduct.)

Yesterday, I testified against one of the proposals under consideration in the Minnesota Senate. The hearing got testy at times. I said that the bill could potentially shut out hundreds of thousands of eligible voters, particularly seniors who live in assisted living or nursing home settings. I also said that the best way to increase confidence in our election system is to tell the truth about the 2020 election: It was fair, honest, accurate, and secure. Period.

The 2020 election may be over, but attempts to make voting harder are still with us. I'll keep pushing back against all of those proposals. And I'll keep telling the truth about our democracy.

If you can, will you contribute $10, $50, or $100 today? Your support will help in the fight to strengthen and protect our democracy. Donate today: [link removed]

Thanks for having my back.

Steve
