Ms Foundation for Women
John,
*It's Pride Month! *How exhilarating to see all the Pride colors rolled out in celebration of the LGBTQ community. As a Black lesbian feminist and a New Yorker I can't emphasize enough that we owe Pride Month to Stonewall.
50 years ago, what started as a riot morphed into multiple movements that continue to shape our society in significant ways. It is critical that we uplift and center the reality that Pride exists because of the work and resistance of transgender women of color, drag queens, homeless youth, and other members of the LGBTQ community.
Stonewall's legacy of building political power through riotous resistance lives on. And we cannot celebrate without funding the active resistance of queer and trans movements that lead all people to liberation.
Grantee partners like Women with a Vision in Louisiana are an example of the legacy of Stonewall. Through Black queer feminist leadership they successfully center the needs of their community and improve social conditions. *Please join us and donate in honor of grantee partners like Women with a Vision today. Amidst our joy and jubilation, we must call into the conversation how trans women of color are still being murdered with impunity. We cannot ignore Trump's attacks against queer and trans people- relegating us to second class citizens and railing against social protections and progress.
*Now more than ever, we need to fund the grassroots activists who stand against the racism and violence that continues to harm queer and trans people of color every day.*
In Solidarity,
Roz Lee (she/her/Roz)
Vice President, Strategy and Programs
