Let's Make the Big Cat Public Safety Act Law This Year
Dear John,
The Big Cat Public Safety Act ([link removed]) passed the US House of Representatives by a strong bipartisan majority in late 2020, thanks in large part to the efforts of activists like you. Unfortunately, the Senate did not take up the bill before the 116th Congress ended, so we must restart the process and get fresh momentum going on this bill now that the new Congress is underway.
The Big Cat Public Safety Act (H.R. 263) was reintroduced in the House on January 11 by Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). It would prohibit private ownership of big cats and restrict direct physical contact between the public and big cats, putting an end to "cub petting" operations and the vicious breeding cycles on which they depend.
We are determined to get this bill across the finish line, and need your help to make it happen.
