As you may know, earlier this month 25,000 members of the National Guard were deployed to D.C. to secure the inauguration. Now, however, 5,000 of these troops are being told they might need to stay until mid-March with no mission justification whatsoever.
These men and women currently stationed in D.C. are citizen soldiers, which means they aren't active military and this isn't their day job. They have their own jobs, businesses and families. Many of them are single parents that on only a few hours notice had to make arrangements for their kids before they were torn from their lives and deployed to D.C. to be Nancy Pelosi's personal police force.
For their sake, we deserve answers. We have a right to know why we have more troops on Capitol Hill than we do in Iraq & Afghanistan. That's why this week I requested a briefing from the Defense Department on the ongoing threats facing our Capitol and the reasoning behind keeping the troops in D.C. through mid-March.

I won't stop fighting until our service members are either given a legitimate reason to stay or are allowed to go home. The National Guard should only be used as a last resort - not as Pelosi's private police force.
