One of Donald Trump's first acts in office four years ago was to reinstate and expand the global gag rule. The consequences continue to be devastating: Health clinics in Ethiopia shut down. Family planning efforts in Kenya were halted. Communities in Madagascar experienced contraception shortages.

And he didn’t stop there. Trump’s domestic gag rule devastated a program that had been providing family planning services to underserved communities for nearly 50 years. After this dangerous rule was implemented, roughly one quarter of participating providers were forced to leave the program, leaving some states without a single Title X provider.
