Once you hear a story about human trafficking, it's impossible to forget, especially when you learn that it's happening in your own backyard. Beer distributors are active members of their communities, and are always looking for ways to deliver more. With NBWA's Distributors Against Human Trafficking initiative, distributors across the country are getting involved in the fight against human trafficking. “I think it’s been a lightbulb moment for a lot of people," said NBWA Vice President of Communications Lauren Kane. Rumor has it that the India Pale Ale was invented to survive the voyage from England to India during the 18th and 19th century. The truth, like some IPAs, is a little more hazy than that. Travis Rupp, a beer archaeologist who teaches at the University of Colorado, uncovered the full story on his journey to recreate the original IPA.

In Memoriam: Past NBWA PAC Chair Pat Scherzer

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Pat Scherzer, past owner of Schatz Distributing in Kansas City, Kan. Pat served on NBWA's Board of Directors in the early 1990s and again from 1997-2002. In addition, he served as chair of the NBWA Political Action Committee in 2002 and was a member of the PAC Chairman's Circle. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
