John --

Let's start with the facts: The U.S. incarcerates more people than any other nation in the world.

For one, mass incarceration does nothing to make our communities safer. It disproportionately harms Black, brown, and less fortunate communities. And it inflicts overly harsh sentences. This unjust system is fueled by corporate-run, private prisons, which create a financial incentive and demand to incarcerate.

So when President Biden signed an executive order to end the Department of Justice's contracts with private prisons, it was a long overdue -- and critical -- step in our fight for justice.

Dwight is fighting for criminal justice reform, having served as the co-chair of the Congressional Re-Entry Caucus and a Member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. And Dwight helped pass the historic First Step Act to reform the criminal justice system.

John, we still have work to do to reform our broken and inhumane criminal justice system fueled by profit. So, we need to keep the pressure on Congress to tackle our inhumane criminal justice system head-on.

With a razor-thin majority in Congress, Dwight is leading the fight for comprehensive criminal justice reform. If you're with Dwight, add your name to our petition to demand Congress do the work to rebuild our justice system from the ground up.

Thank you,

Team Evans
