John —

Save the date: This year’s all-online Day of Empathy is March 2nd, 2021.

What is the Day of Empathy, you ask? Only the biggest day of action for criminal justice reform in the country — a day that brings together people impacted by the justice system, along with unlikely allies and the power players who can create change.

It is going to be my first #DayofEmpathy as our new national director, and the first since we changed our name from #cut50 to Dream Corps JUSTICE. Dream Corps JUSTICE is an embodiment of our commitment to working across issues and silos to leverage the collective power of the entire Dream Corps organization, including our sister programs, Green for All and TECH, to combat racial injustice in all its forms.

Empathy is at the core of that work — and this year’s Day of Empathy itself will be just as powerful and inspiring as ever. Last year, just weeks after the start of a deadly pandemic that has wreaked havoc, the 2020 Day of Empathy brought together:

  • 43,000 people around the world to participate in 14 virtual events across 13 states and Canada, totaling 239 MILLION social media impressions.
  • 21 elected officials from both sides of the aisle to discuss common-sense solutions to alleviate the conditions of those incarcerated during COVID-19 and beyond it.
  • Martin Luther King III, Kim Kardashian West, Christina and David Arquette, Shaka Senghor, Demi Lovato, and other high-level influencers to lend their power to our movement as celebrity change-makers.

Now it’s 2021, and this year’s Day of Empathy is going to bring even more excitement, more people from across political divides together, and most importantly, elevate the voices of those impacted by our broken justice system in order to fix it.

Sign up here to receive the latest updates on #DayofEmpathy 2021 – we’ll see you on March 2nd.

Thank you for standing with us!
