Hey there,
Bad news: Republican legislators nationwide are capitalizing on Trump's debunked claims of mass voter fraud as an excuse to pass sweeping voter ID reforms and deny Americans their legal right to vote.
We're already seeing movement from Republicans in five different states to introduce stricter and increasingly discriminatory voter ID laws in the next few months, a clear indication that we have a long fight ahead of us if we want to maintain our House and Senate majorities and protect the right to vote nationwide this election cycle.
And who are Republicans looking to shut out from these upcoming critical elections?
“They are students and other young people, they're communities of color, they're older adults who are no longer driving, people with low income, people with disabilities,” says voting non-profit founder Kathleen Unger, in an interview with POLITICO.
Republicans have seen that their only viable way to win seats depends on how successful they are at silencing the voices of minorities and the disadvantaged -- and they're ready to act. We cannot stand by while they try to deny people access to their right to vote, so please, let us know:
Do you condemn GOP voter ID laws?
