Friend,
Throughout the last year, our nation has talked about ways to reinvigorate our economy following the coronavirus pandemic. In a bipartisan manner, Congress passed legislation to help those who are unemployed, provide relief to small businesses through the Paycheck Protection Program and develop vaccines in record time thanks to Operation Warp Speed.
Yet we know that the best way to help hurting families is to safely reopen the economy and get people back to work.
However, the Biden administration's recent executive orders will do more to stimulate the Chinese economy than our U.S. economy.
Take the executive order that canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline. With his signature, an estimated 11,000 jobs were canceled – jobs that were especially needed during this pandemic.
He also placed a moratorium on oil and gas leases on federal lands, slowing down an industry that will result in higher gas prices for all Americans and fewer jobs throughout the country.
And of course, President Biden made good on his pledge to rejoin the Paris Agreement – something other countries won't enforce, meaning we will be hurting American workers without actually conserving the planet.
This push toward the Green New Deal destroys jobs while China – the world's biggest polluter – can grow. And it locks down our economy with burdensome regulations and puts us back at the mercy of foreign producers.
I will continue to fight against these radical orders that put China first and you and your family last. Instead of pushing this agenda through executive order, we need to focus on reopening the economy and defeating the coronavirus.
Sincerely,
Rep. Ron Estes
