| This is what climate leadership looks like. |
| Yesterday, President Biden signed a series of executive orders that will mobilize all of government to clean up pollution in frontline communities, tackle the climate emergency, and address the biodiversity crisis by protecting public lands which provide habitat for imperiled wildlife. |
| Among the orders was an immediate pause to future federal fossil fuel leasing on public lands. Currently, federal fossil fuel activities contribute to nearly 25% of U.S. emissions, so this pause is a critical step toward transforming public lands from being part of the climate problem to part of the solution. President Biden also signed orders committing to investing in communities of color that are disproportionately harmed by pollution, and centering justice and equity in decision-making. Yesterday, President Biden corrected course and put our country on a path towards a pollution-free, clean energy future, and restored U.S. climate leadership on the world stage. |
