Education is a vital tool to help girls build confidence, but in sub-Saharan Africa, an estimated 1 in 10 girls miss school during their menstrual cycle. Tonight’s episode of ACTIVATE tells the story of Global Citizen’s campaign to break down barriers to education for girls living in South Africa.

Tonight's episode — Keeping Girls in School — follows the #ItsBloodyTime campaign and features South African TV presenter and Global Citizen Ambassador Bonang Matheba as she works to persuade President Cyril Ramaphosa to commit to invest $822 million toward funding menstrual health and hygiene education, providing free pads for girls in grades 4 through 12 in public schools, and removing taxes on sanitary products. The episode also follows Gayle King and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as they join the campaign to keep girls in school.
