John -

The United States is the world's leading jailer.

Over the last 40 years, our prison population has increased fivefold; the US currently has 2.2 million people imprisoned.

Our prisons are overfull, often with people who have committed minor nonviolent crimes. A disproportionate number of those people are people of color, and the vast majority come from low-income families.

But rather than fix our broken justice system, we're just building more prisons.

We've got to take a stand, John. Ending mass incarceration starts here and it starts with us.

Sign the petition: Reform America's broken prison system and end mass incarceration.

The impeachment news has me thinking about a lot of things, John. Near the top of the list is our pay-to-play justice system, which rewards wealthy criminals like our president.

While Trump sneers at the law, obstructs justice, and then deploys an army of expensive lawyers to keep himself out of jail, poor people suffering from addiction or mental illness are thrown in jail without treatment.

That's not right. That's why we're fighting back to build a nation where justice isn't dependent on your bank account, and where mass incarceration is a distant memory.

Add your name to demand the end of mass incarceration, now.
